5 Star Champions | February 2020

Each month we feature five winners and connect their stories to the 5 Star principle they best represent.

Nanette Coffey, Associa Tennessee

Nominated by Charles Riska (Home Office): Nanette is the branch rental leader for RHOME (Associa’s Rental Division). Nanette takes her responsibilities to support her clients, tenants, and our business, very seriously. One of her most important responsibilities is business development. Nanette was recently at a Lowes Home Improvement store and saw a couple with a “For Lease” sign in their cart. With business card in hand, Nanette approached them to learn their story and to see how she might be able to serve them. A few days later Nanette emailed us to share that this couple had called and wanted to learn more.  Thirty minutes later I received a second email saying that they agreed to sign up. The contract has been signed and RHOME is truly grateful to have Nanette as a team member. We look forward to all she will accomplish in 2020!

Nanette, thank you for your commitment to building relationships that allow Associa, and our integrated services, to grow!

5 Star Principle: Building Relationships

Viorel Risco, Wilson Blanchard (Ontario)

Nominated by Pauline Janssen: Viorel served as the after-hours on-call manager for the first week when Wilson Blanchard combined their after-hours coverage for all three offices. This meant that Viorel was responsible for calls from about 600 properties, approximately 10,000 units. This was also the weekend southern Ontario experienced significant rainfall and high winds. Viorel received hundreds of calls over the weekend from owners who were dealing with major issues such as water entering their units through light fixtures and pouring out of the sockets. He spoke with owners, contacted contractors, and did everything in his power to assist owners during these emergency situations. Viorel also sent emails to managers over the weekend so they would be aware of what had occurred in their complexes before they came into work that following Monday. Viorel isn't one to let people know about his efforts, so I wanted to recognize him for handling this very busy, intense, and exhausting situation.

Thank you, Viorel, for exercising outstanding leadership during a time of transition and emergency situations.

5 Star Principle: Exercising Leadership

Patty Plover, Associa Mid-Atlantic (New Jersey)

Nominated by Jennifer Johnson and Jenniffer Harrington: Patty is the epitome of a 5 Star Champion and is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service to homeowners, Board members, and going above and beyond to support her managers. Recently, one of the managers on her team had a family emergency and Patty stepped in, handled all of the needed tasks, and personally delivered Board packets for a meeting. Patty takes care to ensure she is communicating clearly to all parties involved in any project or task. Patty’s outstanding communication is appreciated every day and was especially impactful during this situation that allowed her team member to focus on their family situation. Patty's managers can always count on her, and she is an invaluable part of the Associa family.

Patty, thank you for your continued dedication to communicating effectively to best serve your clients and the Associa family!

5 Star Principle: Communicating Effectively

Becky Foulks, CSSC (Texas)

Nominated by Elena Lugo (EMB Management) and Michelle Johnson (DRM):

I needed to collaborate with several different departments to accomplish a task (Corporate Accounting, Banking, and Client AP). It was very important, confusing, and time-sensitive. It was daunting but Becky helped me navigate the hurdles. She also understood how each department worked together which really helped execute a solution. I could not have accomplished this without her!

Becky is so informative and always ensures that she responds within a timely manner. She believes in the word teamwork to the fullest extent and is a fantastic example of how the CSSC and branch should work together. Thank you Becky for all that you bring to the team...you inspire me every time I work with you!

Becky, thank you for supporting our branch partners and owning the resolution so that we can best serve our clients!

5 Star Principle: Owning the Resolution

Allison Erbel, Home Office (Texas)

Nominations by Lisa Dial Tripplett (Associa Northern California) and Jessica Williams (Prescott):

During the UP Leadership Development Program, Allison brought enthusiasm, a Degreed program for us to follow, books to read, and great interactive opportunities for us to engage in as a group. I really appreciated her passion for our growth and ability to create a friendly and fun environment to learn and share with each other!

Every time I have had an opportunity to interact with Allison she has been immensely helpful, responsive, and so kind! From an internal customer service standpoint, she exhibits the standard we should all strive to achieve. Even though we work in different parts of the country, I truly feel like we are on the same team!

Thank you, Allison, for demonstrating care and supporting the Associa family!

5 Star Principle: Demonstrating Care
