5 Star Champions | March 2020

Each month we feature five winners and connect their stories to the 5 Star principle they best represent.

Maria Scopino, Waccamaw Management (South Carolina)

Nominated by Tammy Whitley: Our company recently transitioned to using TownSq. Several team members supported our project manager, Carla, with the transition; however, Maria truly went above and beyond. As the webmaster, Maria set up all the association websites in TownSq. Not only has she done an excellent job setting up the websites, she has been (and remains) Carla's right hand through this entire transition. When Maria saw a need or challenge, she jumped in and helped resolve it. She has worked many hours to make this as much of a seamless transition as possible for our employees and clients. Maria has a calm demeanor and has shown grace when put in front of Boards that challenged her about our new online platform. She has become someone that many employees, Boards, and homeowners trust and go to when they have a question about not only TownSq, but a variety of other topics as well. Just this week Maria shared an idea to leadership that will help save the company money and was immediately put into action. Waccamaw Management could not have asked for a better person to work on this transition. Maria is 5 stars in our book!

Maria, thank you for exercising leadership during an important transition for your team and clients!

5 Star Principle: Exercise Leadership

Annie Driscoll, LandArc (Michigan)

Nominated by Greg Savage: Annie has made a big impact here at LandArc. When we were looking for someone for our morale committee, her name was mentioned by multiple team members as a good fit and they were right. Annie has been a driving force for our morale committee and Associa Cares. Annie is also willing to provide support beyond her department when needed. Specifically, when AOC was behind in our monthly reports to the CAMs as well as our accruals to corporate, Annie stepped in and helped us catch up on those items. Annie’s pleasant demeanor, desire for accuracy and attention to detail has earned her positive feedback from our co-owners as well as real estate and lending companies. Annie’s inclusive personality, positive reviews and 5 Star efforts truly make LandArc a Great Place to Work!

Thank you, Annie, for demonstrating care in your daily work with the Associa family and clients alike!

5 Star Principle: Demonstrate Care

Beth King, Associa Gulf Coast (Florida)

Nominated by Nichole Burkett: As a new member of the Associa family, I would like to recognize Beth for being supportive during my onboarding process. I admire her professionalism in the workplace and she has been especially helpful as I get acclimated with the various systems and processes used in our daily work. I feel like I am set up for success because of the extra effort that Beth has made to support me as a new team member. I appreciate her talents, knowledge of the industry, and leadership.

Beth, thank you for your dedication to building relationships and supporting the onboarding process so that our new team members can best serve our clients!

5 Star Principle: Build Relationships

Melinda Patterson, CSSC (Texas)

Nominated by Kristin Amarillas (Associa Northern California):

Melinda received a call from a very stressed homeowner who was experiencing an issue with his assessments being sent back from the PO Box. Melinda patiently worked with this homeowner until the issue was resolved. Melinda reached out to me as the manager asking for the correct address, described the issue and how the homeowner was impacted. As the CAM I was able to share with her my planned next steps and what I needed from the homeowner to make sure this issue was resolved. Melinda then went back to the homeowner, shared the update and encouraged him to get set up on direct debit. She even provided him with my email address and phone number. Melinda truly went above and beyond in this situation and I appreciate how she she utilized her resources to ensure that the customer didn't have to be transferred after already experiencing a stressful event. I am so grateful to have Melinda as a member of the Associa family!

Melinda, thank you for supporting our branch partners and owning the resolution so that we can best serve our clients!

5 Star Principle: Own the Resolution

Aaron Slota, Home Office (Texas)

Nomination by Sarah Henrici (Neighborhood Services Corporation): Aaron visited our branch for five days and completed all the testing for the audit. I will have to say that for an audit, it was a pleasant experience! Aaron is very personable and put the team at ease while asking questions and doing the audit testing. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Aaron!

Thank you, Aaron, for communicating effectively while guiding the Associa family through the audit experience!

5 Star Principle: Communicate Effectively
