The Marianna Brady, PhD. Scholarship Program
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Associa has a long history as the trailblazer in the community management industry. Since 1979, the firm has built an unwavering reputation as a leader in customer service, employee engagement, corporate philanthropic initiatives, and continued education. As part of that commitment to continued education, Associa has established a scholarship program for children and grandchildren of Associa employees.
The Marianna Brady, PhD. Scholarship Program was created in 2021 in recognition of Associa founder John Carona’s mentor and friend, Dr. Marianna Brady.
Dr. Brady, or Miss Brady as she was known to John, was a career educator and decades-long elementary school principal as well as a neighbor, advisor, and confidant. She was an ambassador of women, active in her church, and spent her free time mentoring youth and promoting the importance of education.
John first met Dr. Brady when, at the age of 12, he created his first entrepreneurial venture mowing lawns. Over the next eight years, as one of John’s most loyal customers, Dr. Brady regularly encouraged him to focus on his education, work hard, and treat others with respect and kindness. According to John, no one to this day has taught him more or had a greater impact on his life.
Dr. Brady and John remained close friends until her passing in 2001. In John’s own words, “Miss Brady was the personification of education and encouragement. She will always be loved and missed.”
The Marianna Brady, PhD. Scholarship Program is open to children and grandchildren of Associa employees, who will be enrolled to pursue a post-secondary education at an accredited four-year university, community college, or trade school within the next year. This includes students who are graduating high school seniors and students currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
