Community Socials to Build Strong Communities

Associa BC was proud to take part in a few community social events this year with successful end results. 

We always encourage Strata Councils and Owners to hold at least one community social event per year.  Getting together in the spirit of neighbourly friendship will help foster a stronger and more vibrant community where residents can enjoy their homes even more.

Whether it's a potluck or a more formal event the key is to bring the community together. As the Council will have plenty on their plate already, the Owners and Tenants are invited to form a Social Committee. 

In the planning stages, the following items could be included on the Agenda:

  • Deciding on the type of gathering.
  • Knowing your budget and plan ahead.
  • Generating extra revenue from returning recycling bottles or from asking the Strata's service providers if they are willing to participate in some sponsorship (don't get upset if they say no as they may have already spent their marketing budget for the year).
  • Setting a date and time.
  • Working out the logistics of location, set-up, type of food & drinks.
  • Assigning specific tasks to the Committee Members.
  • Setting timelines and planning for follow up meetings.
  • Sending Notices out and inviting additional volunteers.

With a little bit of effort, every Strata Community can achieve huge gains.
