e3 Champion: Advocating for Communities

January 3, 2020

Each month, employee family members are selected as e3 Champions. E3 stands for: Every client. Every day. Every time. The e3 Champion Award rewards those who go above and beyond the call of duty for both internal and external clients.

Nomination by Becky Hertzler: Last April Maggie took on a new client which was previously self-managed. As you can imagine they have had several challenges to overcome, one being financial. Maggie noticed almost immediately that the community was overpaying for their trash service. She reached out to Refuse Specialists but they were not able to assist her because of the language in the contract the Board had signed. Maggie didn’t give up! She consistently reached out to the account manager and his supervisor for Waste Management regarding the amount this association was paying for trash service. Obtaining multiple other bids, but knowing the association was locked into this contract with Waste Management, Maggie forwarded those bids over to Waste Management to prove her point. Coupled with the fact of how much business our branch does with Waste Management, Maggie was able to reduce this client’s monthly trash bill by 47%! The board was elated with Maggie's work, as we are.

Thank you, Maggie, for advocating for your communities and helping them save money!
