Partner Post: Houseplants Are Essential Back-to-School Supplies

Indoor plants are a key ingredient to a healthy home. But it’s not just our homes they help—indoor plants bring their benefits to dorm rooms and other spaces, as well. So, keep plants on your must-have list of school supplies.

A houseplant is the perfect green accessory as students go back-to-school shopping. They are guaranteed to spark a smile and friendly conversation while scrubbing the air clean.

Indoor plants are well known for their air purification powers. They efficiently remove irritants and harmful substances such as mold spores and VOCs. No green thumb? Try bringing easy-care varieties such as snake plant, Chinese evergreen, ZZ plant, or pothos indoors to keep students feeling their best.

Science shows there are also psychological benefits to having indoor plants around. Studies demonstrate how simply being around a plant can help reduce levels of stress and anxiety. And other studies by Texas A&M University show that exposure to indoor plants can improve levels of creativity, problem-solving skills, concentration, and memory retention—all key factors to students doing well on tests.

Plants in the dorm room or study space look good, too, helping create a more comfortable environment where we feel more relaxed. And who wouldn’t want their favorite student to have a happy, healthy space that’s also fashionable?
