ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (AMS ® ) The nationally recognized Association Management Specialist (AMS ® ) designation establishes that managers have an advanced understanding of the operations and decision-making involved in managing an HOA for an extended period. A higher level of certification beyond the CMCA ® , AMS ® allows managers to manage larger, more complex HOAs. To gain AMS ® credentials, community association managers have to: • Gain two years of verified experience with at least one association. This experience must come from financial, administrative, and facilities management. • Successfully complete at least two M-200 level courses. There are six M-200 level courses for managers to choose from. • Successfully pass the CMCA ® exam. Managers should already have completed the exam when they earned their CMCA ® designation from CAMICB. • Complete the application for the designation. An application fee must be paid with the submitted application. To maintain AMS ® credentials, managers pay annual maintenance fees, complete continuing education requirements every three years, and continuously comply with the CAI Professional Manager Code of Ethics.
