PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MANAGER (PCAM ® ) The Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM ® ) designation is the highest-level credential a community association manager can receive nationally. With this, managers must go through a more extensive accreditation process to achieve PCAM ® status, including an in-depth case study submission. Due to the strict requirements, there are only approximately 3,000 managers in the country with the PCAM ® credential. In addition to obtaining all lower-level designations, managers with at least five years of experience seeking the PCAM ® credential must: • Submit a PCAM ® application. Each section of the application rewards points for fulfilling certain requirements, such as attending education programs and obtaining additional licenses. A total of 125 points is needed to complete the application. • Pay the application fee. The PCAM ® application comes with a non-refundable fee for members and non-members. • Complete a community case study. Applicants must visit the community in person or virtually and communicate with the community manager, board members, and other key personnel to evaluate the association. Applicants have one year from the date of application approval to complete their case study. To maintain your PCAM ® credential, managers must complete continuing education courses, comply with the CAI Professional Manager Code of Ethics, and pay maintenance fees.
