Eat: Bell peppers, peaches, tomatoes

Do: Fertilize your lawn, water plants deeply, plant fall season crops

Sept

Buy: Trees, shrubs, cool-weather vegetables

Eat: Squash, apples, blackberries, cauliflower

Do: Bring houseplants inside, clean-up veggie beds, start planting spring flowering bulbs (as long as the ground isn’t frozen)

October

Buy: Mums, pumpkins, pansies, ornamental corn

Eat: Brussel sprouts, beets, potatoes

Do: Turn compost, plant mums, harvest fall crops
