1. WELCOME
NEWCOMERS
It's important to take the time to welcome new residents
and acknowledge their arrival. When people feel welcomed,
they're more likely to engage with the community and build
meaningful connections.
• Create a welcome committee.
A welcome committee is a dedicated group of
volunteers entrusted with giving new homeowners a
hospitable welcome to the association. A committee
encourages involvement, offering orientations,
introducing homeowners to other community members,
and providing assistance with homeowner duties.
• Prepare a welcome packet. A welcome packet should be
the first communication a new homeowner receives. It
usually includes a welcome letter, rules and regulations,
community contacts, and other important information.
A quality welcome packet will set the tone for a positive
relationship and help the new owner quickly become a
productive member of the community.
• Introduce new community members. Recognize new
homeowners in association communications or at a
community event, like an annual meeting. Be sure to
get permission before publishing any names or making
an official announcement. Introductions give existing
homeowners a chance to meet new neighbors and
include them in community activities.
