3. COMMUNICATE
VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES
Oftentimes, residents are ready and willing to volunteer, but they don't
know how to get involved. To ensure you reach more homeowners with
accurate information, it's important to appropriately communicate open
opportunities. Be sure to:
• Be specific about your needs. Don't overwhelm your homeowners.
Stick to one or two needs at a time and clearly explain the duties and
expectations of each volunteer role.
• Use multiple communication channels. While posting flyers in
high-traffic areas and making announcements at meetings can be
helpful, you should also share opportunities on social media, in your
community newsletter, or on your community website or app.
• Always promote a positive image. People like to volunteer in places
that make them feel good. Promote the charm and overall unity of your
community in all communications, ads, and websites.
• Just ask! A lot of people never get around to responding to digital
communications and filling out forms. If you have an open volunteer
position, personally reach out to homeowners you think would be great
for the role.
