5 CHECK LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING While community landscaping and lighting boost the association's visual aesthetic, they also play a role in back-to-school safety. Overgrown trees and bushes can cover traffic signs and obstruct a driver's view of the road. Likewise, poor lighting can lead to hazardous conditions for students walking to and from school or the bus stop. HOA board members can improve community safety and visibility by confirming: • Street lamps are working properly • Bus stops are well-lit and clutter-free • Tree branches and bushes do not cover street signs • Landscaping is neat and trimmed around street corners Plus, connect with homeowners to emphasize the importance of yard maintenance. Everyone can support student safety by maintaining landscaping and making it easier for kids and their parents to navigate the neighborhood. 7 6 5 4 8 9 10 3 2
