executive officer (CEO), with an overarching
leadership role that oversees many aspects of the
association. As spokesperson for the board, the
president is in charge of HOA procedural duties.
While specific responsibilities will be defined in the
governing documents, they may include:
• Scheduling and running board meetings
• Creating meeting agendas

management
• Signing contracts and official documents
• Calling for votes and announcing results
Ensuring that operations are carried out correctly
and the association functions as it should,
the president acts on behalf of homeowners,
prioritizes projects, and keeps the board on track.
Qualities that make a successful HOA president:
• Strong communication skills
• Decisiveness and responsiveness
• Ability to mediate during disputes
• Passion for serving others
