6. ADOPT AMENDED
DOCUMENTS
Once the necessary parties approve the amendment, the
association can officially make the changes. To do this:
• Obtain a final legal review of the latest version of the
amendment
• Notify residents that the amendment has passed
• Record the changes and update the governing
documents
• When necessary, file the change with your county
recorder's office, as requirements vary by state
While amendments to your covenants, conditions,
& restrictions (CC&Rs) must be recorded with local
government entities, changes to rules and regulations
may not need to be filed at the recorder's office. Check
your state laws and connect with your HOA or COA
attorney for guidance.
