TIP 5:
BE FAIR AND CONSISTENT
WITH ENFORCEMENT.
Board members have a fiduciary duty to stay objective and act in the best interest of the
association. To fulfill this duty, board members should enforce collections processes
fairly and consistently. When board members extend favors or ignore infractions, it
often breaks the trust residents should have in the board. This can often lead to conflict
between homeowners and boards, disrupting neighborhood harmony.
