7 CHECK BUILDING EXTERIORS After the worst winter weather has passed, schedule a thorough check of all HOA building exteriors. Look for signs of damage, wear and tear, and other hazards that might lead to costly repairs. While inspecting structure exteriors, always examine: • Roofs. Check for broken or missing roof shingles, water damage, and leaks. • Soffits. Scan for warped materials, peeling paint, and discoloration that can be signs of serious water damage. • Windows and screens. Make sure windows and screens are functional and have sealing. • Gutters. Check for debris and clogs in gutters that can prevent optimal water drainage during wet spring weather. • Siding. Cracked or warped siding can lead to water damage, mold and rust, and pests entering the building. 7 6 5 4 8 9 10 11 3 12 13 C 14
