INSPECT BUILDING
EXTERIORS FOR
WEAR AND TEAR.
With harsh winter conditions around the corner,
survey the exteriors of your association's buildings
for potential hazards and make needed repairs.
• Check for signs of water damage. Scan for
discoloration, soft or damp materials, indented or
warped areas, and musty smells.
• Inspect the roof and foundation. Look for cracks,
missing pieces, and damaged shingles. Also,
confirm gutters are properly secured.
• Weatherproof windows and doors. Check that all
doors and windows have the right weatherstripping
to improve insulation.
• Clear out invasive plants. Some invasive plants,
like Japanese Knotweed, are harmful to the
structural integrity of a property. Search the
exterior and clear out overgrown foliage.
