5. CLEAN BARBECUE GRILLS
Grills are essential for outdoor fun, but they
can also cook up some unsavory treats like
burnt foods, insects, or debris when ignored
for too long. Before allowing residents to use
the grill, examine the inside and clear away
any spider webs or debris that may have
collected while not in use.
Take the following steps to prepare each grill:
• Reconnect propane tanks and check gas
lines for leaks.
• Preheat grills for 10-15 minutes, and then
brush the grates. Preheating will not only
disinfect the grills but will also allow
leftover debris to turn to ash, making
it easy to brush the grates and remove
residue.
• Empty drip trays to reduce the chances of
a grease fire.
• Lastly, use a stainless-steel brush, soap,
and water to scrub the lid and burner
covers free of smoke and grease deposits.
