How to Create an HOA Violation Letter

Every homeowners’ association (HOA) has a set of governing documents, which includes Codes, Covenants, and Restrictions (CC&Rs), Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, and other rules and regulations made by the community. When an association member breaks a rule, they’ve committed a violation. After a violation has been recorded, the member may receive a violation letter, also known as a letter of non-compliance, from the board of directors as the first step in the enforcement process. In most cases, a violation letter from the HOA will include details about the offense, how to correct it, information about potential fines, and a deadline to respond or fix the issue.
