VOLUNTEER: Let's be honest, serving on an HOA
board isn't always hunky-dory. Sometimes, our fellow
board members can seem like the monsters in our
otherwise quaint little fairytale community. If your
board members are looking more like villains than
heroes, opt for some volunteer time. Partner with
Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a deserving
family or help out at a local hospital or shelter. Take
it a step further and pair your volunteer efforts with
a clothing or food drive to support a local non-profit
and watch those horns turn into halos.

REMIND EACH OTHER
THAT YOU'RE HUMAN
WHY IT WORKS: As community partners, the board sets an example for the rest
of the community and what better way to encourage a sense of community than
to help others? By incorporating service into your HOA board activities, you're
not only making a difference in the community, but also encouraging social
awareness and activism.
