ESCAPE ROOM: Don't let the name frighten you.
If your community is comprised of CSI-watching
super-sleuths, try an escape room adventure. Your
team (usually consisting of 7-15 people depending
on house rules) is locked in a room filled with clues
and given one hour to solve a mystery. The goal is to
work together to solve the mystery using the clues
inside the room before time runs out. This activity is
effective because to solve each clue, you rely on an
entirely different skill, so everyone has a chance to
shine. If you solve the mystery, you're greeted with
much fanfare when you unlock the door. If you don't
solve the mystery, your team will be free to leave
without getting to taste victory.

BOARD HAS A
COMPLEX PROBLEM TO SOLVE
WHY IT WORKS: When it comes to the escape room, the adage "It's not
whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game" is quite true. Working
together to escape the room will help you discover each board member's
strengths, which will give you a good idea of what to delegate to whom when
your board has a big issue to solve.
