TREASURER
Although HOAs are nonprofit organizations,
funds are necessary for the association to
operate. The board treasurer acts as the
community's financial manager and handles
HOA accounts, overseeing most duties related
to HOA funds and financials. Generally, the
treasurer's responsibilities include:
• Preparing the association's annual budget
• Ensuring the accuracy of financial records
• Overseeing billing and collections
• Reviewing audits and reserve studies
• Paying vendor invoices on time
Properly managing HOA funds is critical to
a community's success. A dedicated board
treasurer will work to keep the community
funded, budget balanced, and future projects
on track.
This position requires certain financial skills,
such as:
• Experience with accounting or
record-keeping
• Sound business judgement
• Ability to work closely with a certified
public accountant (CPA)
• Problem-solving skills
• Integrity and transparency
