TYPES OF HOA
RULES
HOA rules usually fall into one of three
main categories. To maintain order and
preserve the community's well-being, the
rules generally center around:
• Community behavior: Behavioral rules
govern how homeowners act and
treat each other. They aim to promote
respectful behaviors that don't disrupt
the neighborhood or the association's
operations. Examples include noise
restrictions and pet rules.
• Maintenance requirements:
Maintenance rules refer to
homeowners' obligations to maintain
their homes, including lawn mowing,
tree trimming, and paint touch-ups.
• Architectural guidelines: These rules
encompass what homeowners can
do with their property's exteriors.
They aim to maintain aesthetic
consistency, keep home values high,
identify and prevent safety hazards
within the community.
