SPRING HOA
MAINTENANCE TIPS
Winter's end means freezing temperatures
and snowy showers have passed. For spring,
communities can address the implications of winter
weather and prepare for the summer months. The
top 10 maintenance tasks for spring include:
• Refresh your landscaping. Work with your
landscaping vendor to clean up damaged
trees and plants, adjust watering schedules,
fertilize garden beds and lawns, prune
bushes, trim trees, and mow lawns.
• Survey garbage and recycling areas. Confirm
adherence to disposal guidelines, and request
new bins from your waste management
company if you notice wear and tear.
• Identify pest control issues. Keep
landscaping neat and trimmed, seal
unwanted openings, clear standing water, and
schedule service to avoid a surge in pests
and rodents.
• Address fire safety hazards. Remove
clutter from HOA facilities. Schedule fire
safety inspections to examine electrical
wiring, evacuation routes, alarms, and fire
extinguishers.
• Check windows and screens. Make sure they
are free of damage, function properly, and
have adequate sealing. Repair as necessary.
• Inspect siding. Cracked or warped siding
can lead to water damage, mold, rust, and
pests entering the building. Inspect and fix as
needed.
