6 SPRING HOA MAINTENANCE TIPS Winter's end means freezing temperatures and snowy showers have passed. For spring, communities can address the implications of winter weather and prepare for the summer months. The top 10 maintenance tasks for spring include: • Refresh your landscaping. Work with your landscaping vendor to clean up damaged trees and plants, adjust watering schedules, fertilize garden beds and lawns, prune bushes, trim trees, and mow lawns. • Survey garbage and recycling areas. Confirm adherence to disposal guidelines, and request new bins from your waste management company if you notice wear and tear. • Identify pest control issues. Keep landscaping neat and trimmed, seal unwanted openings, clear standing water, and schedule service to avoid a surge in pests and rodents. • Address fire safety hazards. Remove clutter from HOA facilities. Schedule fire safety inspections to examine electrical wiring, evacuation routes, alarms, and fire extinguishers. • Check windows and screens. Make sure they are free of damage, function properly, and have adequate sealing. Repair as necessary. • Inspect siding.
