DEADLINE TO FILE IS NEAR
The homeowners' association (HOA) industry is often a hot topic in state
legislatures. However, it's increasingly under the regulatory microscope in the
federal arena, too. This year, many state-level legislative changes have impacted
HOAs differently, but the federally passed Corporate Transparency Act (CTA)
affects community associations—HOAs and condos—and board members across
the United States equally.
With 2024 coming to an end, it's important that board members and their
associations comply with this new law before it's too late. Here, John Krueger,
Associa's vice president of government affairs, shares what the CTA is, who it
affects, the deadline for filing, and penalties for non-compliance.
