WRITE CLEAR
POLICY
INSTRUCTIONS.
If you don't understand the timeline of actions
and steps taken in a collections policy, neither
will your homeowners. This complicates
things when the board tries to enforce policies
residents don't understand. Clearly spell out the
following to avoid confusion and frustration:
• The purpose of the policy in relation to
community operations
• The processes that are part of the policy
• Any specific elements required to be
included by law
• Any details or items that are specific to your
community and why
• Appropriate contact information for
questions, clarifications, etc.
