TIP 1:
CHECK YOUR
GOVERNING
DOCUMENTS.
Before doing anything else, you'll want
to make sure your collections policy is
aligned with your governing documents.
In your governing documents, you'll find
bylaws, rules and regulations, as well
as codes, covenants, and restrictions
(CC&Rs). These guidelines inform the
fundamental aspects of collections in
your association, including the rights
that the board and residents have, how
delinquencies will be managed, and how
violations may be enforced. Follow your
governing documents to understand
your limitations before taking any action.
