1. Rinse and soak beans in 8 cups of cold water
overnight.
2. Drain beans and transfer to a large pot.
3. Stir in beef broth, seasonings, and remaining water.
Cook over medium heat for 4-5 hours or until beans
are tender.
4. Remove the basil leaf and strain beans into a large
bowl, reserving the liquid.
5. Using a hand mixer, crush the pinto beans until
smooth.
6. Add reserved liquid to reach desired consistency and
serve.
1 lb dry pinto beans
11 cups cold water, divided
30 oz beef broth
1 basil leaf
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
onion powder (to taste)
garlic powder (to taste)
