1. Brown ground beef and sausage in a large skillet with bacon grease or cooking oil.
2. As the meat begins to brown, add in diced bell peppers, onions, and celery. Drain.
3. When meat is fully browned, stir in all herbs and spices, except for the parsley and bay leaves. Mix well.
4. Add flour, making sure the flour coats the meat. Then, add the chicken broth and bay leaves.
5. Scrape the bottom of the pan to loosen any browned bits. Allow to simmer for 5-8 minutes.
6. Fold in rice and fresh parsley.
7. Simmer for 5 more minutes and serve.

2 cups chicken broth
3 bay leaves
4 cups rice, cooked in chicken broth
2 Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
