STATE-SPECIFIC LICENSURE
In some states, the community manager profession is regulated and requires a state license or
registration to perform the job. To gain a license or registration in these states, a manager typically
has to take community management, property management, or real estate courses, have some
level of experience, complete an exam, and pay a fee. While requirements differ, these seven states
currently mandate community managers to obtain a license or registration:
• Alaska
• Connecticut
• Florida
• Georgia
• Illinois
• Nevada
• Virginia
