GOVERNING
DOCUMENTS
Upon purchasing a home with an
HOA, homebuyers should receive
the governing documents–signing
on the dotted line is their agreement
to abide by them, after all. Still,
providing new residents with a
copy of the complete governing
documents, including the Articles of
Incorporation, Bylaws, Covenants,
Codes, and Restrictions (CC&Rs),
etc., is a convenience. To further
make a new resident's life a little
easier, highlight the specific areas of
the CC&Rs that are most important in
your community. Examples are:
• Delivery guidelines
• Pet restrictions
• Parking requirements
• Architectural guidelines
• Visitor rules
• Noise violations
• Smoking policies
• Disputes and resolutions
