Holding a seat on a homeowners' association's (HOA's) board
of directors is an honor for many. As volunteers elected by
homeowners, some board members have very little to no prior
training in their role. To best transition into a leadership position
within your association, it's important to first get a good grasp
of the language used within HOAs.
At Associa, we've provided guidance to board members for
more 43 years, walking new members through an onboarding
process that includes training on basic board responsibilities
and supplying established board members with refresher
courses. Learning the terminology is key to understanding how
an HOA operates and your role within the organization. Read
on to identify the 12 terms you should know to ensure success
as a board member.
