An HOA's Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&Rs) will detail the rules and regulations for pet owners. While these documents can be lengthy, it's important to review this information to determine if you're able to adhere to the CC&Rs and if they're compatible with your lifestyle. If the legal wording is confusing, ask an attorney to review the documents with you. Each HOA can decide if it allows members to own and house pets. Further, they can restrict the types of pets they permit and more.
