COMMON PET VIOLATIONS
An association's CC&Rs will detail its specific rules. However, some guidelines are generally standard in
most communities, such as noise complaint policies that include barking, pet size and quantity limits,
and trash rules with pet waste directives.
While HOA rules can vary, it's important to try to avoid violations in the first place. It's simpler than you
might think. Be sure to:
• Read, learn, and follow your HOA's governing documents, paying special attention to
anything that includes pet policies.
• Stay in the loop about new pet rules and guidelines by attending all your association's
meetings and events.
• Keep open lines of communication with your board, neighbors, and other community
partners to eliminate misunderstandings and problems that involve pets.
