4. Being a No-Show
It's easy to get caught up in all the work that comes with
being a board member; however, it's crucial to remember
why you chose to serve on the board: to make your
community a place where people love to live and want to stay.
Regularly interacting and engaging with residents promotes
transparency and allows them to see how the board works to
improve the community.
There's nothing like a harmonious community where
people greet each other and actively foster a friendly
environment. We also know that taking the first
step to introduce yourself to your neighbour can be
intimidating. By hosting a few casual, inexpensive
events, such as simple barbecues and ice cream
socials, you can build a stronger sense of community
that motivates more residents to get involved and
invested in the place they live."
