More than 100 days into the COVID-19 pandemic, there is one certainty: Boards will need to continue to monitor and adapt to the governance and operational challenges in their communities. As your partner, Associa has worked to provide client boards with a decision-making framework and tools to help navigate these challenges. As long as the virus continues to spread across communities, boards will need to remain vigilant, nimble, and strong in addressing the accompanying challenges. The goal of this publication is to provide boards with a framework to navigate ongoing operations in a pandemic environment. This information is supplemental to the tools Associa has built for our clients, including: • Guidance on how to respond to the pandemic. See the webinar, "Considerations for Community Boards and Councils" : • Tips on local mandates and remote meetings. See the webinar, "Considerations for Community Boards & Councils II" : • Insight on how to approach operations, maintenance, and government programs. See the webinar, "Considerations for Community Boards & Councils III:" • Lessons on how to reopen amenities. Read Considerations for Community Boards & Councils IV: • How to prepare for your community's financial future. Read Lessons from the Great Recession: Preparing for Financial Uncertainty This thought guide is focused on the period after your community reopens its public areas and amenities, and considers what "normal and sustained" operations may look like during the ongoing pandemic. DISCLAIMER: This document is not intended to provide legal advice. The goal is to provide boards and councils with an operational guideline to help reduce the chance of a topic or area not getting addressed. As you collectively review this outline, you can delete, add, or modify to accommodate your particular community. It is not created to be an all-encompassing, normal operating guide, but to highlight COVID-19-related impact areas and policies. Boards should consult with qualified counsel on the implications of actions taken during the pandemic.
