Tip #1 Welcome Newcomers 1. Create a welcome committee. When you're new to a community, it's nice to have the opportunity to ask someone questions face-to-face. If possible, recruit friendly community members to serve on a welcome committee. The welcome committee should be responsible for meeting new residents, orienting them to the community, and inviting them to attend community events or meetings. 2. Prepare a welcome packet. A welcome packet should be the first communication a new homeowner receives. The welcome packet should include helpful information regarding maintenance and amenities, association responsibilities, owner expectations, important contacts and phone numbers, and frequently asked questions. A quality welcome packet will set the tone for a positive relationship and help the new owner quickly become a productive member of the community. 3. Send a welcome letter. New residents should receive a cheerful introduction letter officially welcoming them as a member of the community. It should explain the manager's role, include contact information, provide details about what to do in case of emergency, and more. This letter can be included in the welcome packet or sent separately when a new resident moves in. 4. Introduce new community members. Recognize new homeowners in association communications or at a community event, like an annual meeting. Be sure to get permission before publishing any names or making an official announcement. It's important to take the time to welcome new residents and acknowledge their arrival. New owners are typically excited about their new home, so it's the perfect time to educate them about the community and encourage them to get them involved. 4 Ways to Greet New Residents
