DESIGNATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
To advance their careers, further their education, and demonstrate their
expertise, many community managers seek industry certifications and
designations from the Community Associations Institute (CAI). CAI is an
international membership organization that offers educational programs,
leading to professional designations for community managers and other
industry professionals, including:
• Certified Manager of Community Associations® (CMCA®)
• Association Management Specialist® (AMS®)
• Professional Community Association Manager® (PCAM®)
• Large-Scale Manager® (LSM®)
• Accredited Association Management Company® (AAMC®)
Similarly, some states also require community managers to obtain state-
specific certifications and licenses.
