According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), young children who are read to have a higher success rate in school. And, in the same way that practicing sports leads to improved physical skills, children who read frequently and for fun develop stronger reading skills— an essential for success in school.

Education is important to us. That’s why, for the third year, Associa Supports Kids is excited to partner with local schools to promote Read Across America on March 2, 2016. Read Across America is a reading awareness program sponsored by the National Education Association that is designed to motivate children of all ages to read 365 days a year with a celebration of reading on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

Our loveable ASK mascot, Scout, loves to read and wants to support your children in becoming healthy and strong readers too!

Scout is available to interact with families at neighborhood and community events. If your child’s school is participating in Read Across America on March 2, or any reading event, Associa wants to support you. Ask your community association manager about arranging for Scout to travel to your child’s school and celebrate reading!

It’s easy as 1, 2, 3…

  1. Find out if/when your neighborhood school is hosting a reading event for Read Across America (or any other volunteer reading event, anytime).
  2. Ask the teacher/administrator if you can invite Scout to join the event.
  3. Contact your community association manager about arranging for Scout to travel to your community for the event.
